Vancouver's real estate market is in crisis, but that's not news. What is shocking is the fact that the BC government is effectively avoiding the most important issue impacting this problem, the unchecked flow of foreign capital into our market.  

Supply issues, affordability and the notion that multi million dollar homes are now routinely considered tear downs, are all symptoms of this problem.  Addressing the symptoms are really just band-aid solutions when the core problem is the most vital issue and yet our government continues to avoid action.

Diversity and liveability is vital to our city and this problem impacts all of us, all communities and backgrounds, and needs to be addressed.

The BC Liberals are funded to the tune of millions by both BC and foreign real estate interests.  In fact, their campaign fundraising manager is Bob Rennie, “the condo king”, who believes that all the answers are in building more condos and guess what, he does not believe foreign capital is an issue.  We need to get corporate and foreign funding out of BC politics.

We need to send a message to Christy Clark and Mike de Jong to let them know that we feel that foreign capital is the number one priority and that they need to act now.  Further, that corporate funding compromises the government's ability, or willingness, to address this issue and that has to change too.
