Save Echo Lake’s Ancient Forest (Old Growth Trees) and Establish a Harrison-Chehalis Wildlife Management Area Protecting this Irreplaceable Ecosystem

The Issue

Here is the thing--the BC government’s little secret-- BC 's temperate rain forest, which is one of the greatest land based carbon sinks and oxygen producers on earth, is under full frontal assault. Hectare for hectare, the temperate coastal rainforest bears more life and life bearing oxygen producer's than anywhere else on our ONLY world.

BC’s other dirty little secret--we are shipping today, one thousand year old sentient Old Growth giant trees to mainland China for triple-ply toilet paper . This is your time to make a difference. It is time to take to heart the wisdom of the First Nations: Chief Joseph said "no more , I will fight no more forever ".

The First Nations had ten millenia  to learn what we have still failed to understand , the natural world is connected for better or worse , we are a part of it . We will fail to learn that lesson at our peril. Be a part of the change make it change so  that your children' s children can still stand at the feet of silent living giants creating the very air they breath. This is a good and worthy cause.

End the Assault on Old Growth Trees in BC--here is how:

Please urgently sign and write a letter (www.ProtectEchoLake.com) to help save the incredible old-growth forests at Echo Lake and all the species that make this place home: see  http://www.theglobeandmail.com/…/race-is-o…/article23576358/

"Up to 700 bald eagles roost in a small grove of old-growth trees around Echo Lake in the Fraser Valley each fall. Does this sound like the kind of place that should be logged?...When salmon return to spawn, the eagles spend their days feasting on fish on the river banks, then, just as darkness descends, fly up to roost in the towering Douglas firs and cedars surrounding Echo Lake...Adjacent homeowners, Susan and Stephen Ben-Oliel, with support from the Ancient Forest Alliance, started a campaign in 2012 to save the Echo Lake forest. In 2013, the government protected 55 hectares – about half the old-growth around the lake. THIS IS NOT ENOUGH!
This plan still allows about 40 hectares of old growth and mature forest to be logged on the north and west sides of the lake."
