Lance Sanderson is gay and his all-boys private school (Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, TN) has decided to refuse to let him bring a male date to Homecoming.

Lance first asked Principal Fay two months ago whether he could bring a guy to the dance and he told Lance that he "shouldn't have faith in gay relationships because they are violent and unstable." The principal also threatened to cut off Lance's photography work with the school in an effort to silence him. Meanwhile, the school convened a committee to examine the issue. The policy they announced at school yesterday (just a week before the dance, which is this Saturday) was that boys can bring girls from other schools but not boys from other schools.
