One year on since this petition first started, full funding has now been committed to the Portishead Railway Line from North Somerset Council, matched by the West of England Combined Authority, and topped up by the Department for Transport.

Once the application is registered by the Planning Inspectorate, the Secretary of State for Transport is expected to make a decision within 18 months.

Subject to final business case approval, construction work is expected to start on the Portishead to Bristol line in December 2021 and take around two years to complete.

Whilst there's good cause to be cautious, as an updated Business Case will be needed in 2021 - the plan is at it's the furthest stage yet! We're really pioneering the way to re-open Feeder Lines in the United Kingdom, changing Government Transport Policy as we do so!
