The scientific belief is that the Coronavirus which causes the deadly disease COVID-19 originated in bats sold at a Wet Market in Wuhan, Hubai Province, in China. The wild animals sold at these markets, which can be found all over China, are sold for human consumption even though it was thought that the SARS epidemic also began through human consumption of contaminated food. The Chinese Govt were lobbied to outlaw these markets after the SARS outbreak in 2002-2004 but nothing was done. Now the whole world is suffering because of their inability and refusal to act in an ethical manner.  Now the very contagious Coronavirus, against which humans have no immunity, is spreading like wildfire around the globe bringing death and devastation to whole populations on the scale not seen since the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1918.  Its time for the Global Community to petition the Chinese Govt to shut these vile markets for good. Otherwise in the future when this scary Coronavirus is just a very bad memory the chances of something like this dreadful scourge happening again will be very high. It's long been documented that viruses can survive for years in species of animals without danger, for instance HIV was thought to have originated in monkeys in Africa.
