We had a very productive hour and a half long meeting this morning with Monica Wallace's Chief of Staff, Elizabeth Brinkworth, and Legislative Director, Lila Balali!  We discussed Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi's legislative bill A7945 that relates to violations by licensed/registered childcare providers; sanctions and penalties for such violations; and administrative appeal of such sanctions and penalties and potentially revisiting and adding more policy adjustments and solutions. We were able to share the economic impact and risk for the system to remain in its current state and the desperate need to focus on the regulatory and enforcement policies to address the root cause to the statewide childcare deserts and industry crisis.  We were able to share the oppression and unfairness we have suffered despite following regulation protocol and the discrepancies between the rights and policies of providers in NYC versus the rest of the state.  We exchanged contact information and will follow up once their team debriefs.  We cannot wait to meet with Senator Ortt's team next week too!
