This year my ex partner received my entire tax return. My payments are always on time. Many other stories have come about with the same issue. This also meant my ex partner not only got my tax return, he also got his own tax return, his wife got her tax return and she got her ex partners tax return, as well as child support payments from both i and the father of her son. So how much did they receive just from 2 separate child support payments, family tax benefit for both children, 2 income family and both their tax returns?

Parents receiving child support should have to produce bills and receipts to prove how much it costs to raise the child. They should not be receiving lump sums of the paying parents cash. The money should be paid directly to the bill, eg: school fees or half the receipt paid to the parent for other things such as clothing, medical as well as a set amount to cover half the child's food and general day to day living costs. The amount the paying parent pays to the other parent, should not increase just because their income increases. There needs to be set limits based on the child ages to cover school fee and general maintenance. The self support amount should be calculated based on each persons situation and not a set amount for both parties. 

There is currently nothing in place to stop child support accessing the paying parents income and it is not properly monitored in a fair way and to ensure that the money is being spent on the child. The amounts should not increase as the paying parents income increases. Child Support needs to be monitored and better procedures put in place. 

Parents that hardly see their children and earn a lot of money are paying child support that is more than what child support is saying is a self support amount for a full grown adult. 

My daughter needs things bought for her and is going without while they are covering themselves on tattoos and buying $5000 push bikes. 

The child support system is out dated. I am in no way against paying for my daughter but I do not see why these people are getting lump sums of cash with no proof of what is being spent on the child.
