For years even prior to the 60s scoop, that was targeted at aboriginal peoples, there has been an ongoing trend within the Child & Family Services Agencies.
These agencies claim to protect a child In need of protection, to look out for a child’s best interest, to strengthen communities and reunite Children with their Family. However Statistically,I believe their mandate is to have as many children as possible in the care of their agencies to ultimately secure the workers continuing to receive paycheques. After all if there’s no children and care there’s no need for those workers. I am in STRONG DISBELIEF that the government mandate for these agencies are looking out for the best interest of a child on a humanitarian level, as many of these protection workers do not have children of their own,nor are the workers educated or experienced enough to make proper, justified, decisions such as apprehending a child, without first conducting, a thorough investigation.

This trend has not been to the benefit of the people but instead to the benefit of the employees or the workers representing these agencies. Over the years more and more families have been torn apart because of child & family services.
The separations have been caused from a child apprehension or removal from their family or a prolonged matter resulting in very little agency support for reunification whether in being returned to parents or agencies not approving other biological family relatives to care for the children.

There are an extensive list of regulations and protocols that seem to support keeping children as distant and alienated from the family as possible regardless of the amount of cooperation or the completion of requirements by parents or family members set out by these agencies. The Society’s are relentless with their constant efforts to seemingly keep children in the care of the Agency until they have prolonged the time lines long enough,that the outcome of the family separation is impacted drastically. This extremely prolonged extent of “fight” for their children leave the parent/s feeling defeated, exhausted and even after all their best efforts are forced with no choice but to relinquish the custody of their child either through Crown Wardship or adoption.

It’s time parents and families who still have strength to know they have a large group of supporters. Anyone who has children in care, stand up for our families and refuse to continue having our human rights as parents violated everyday.
