Arrest Benton Man for Torturing and Killing a Puppy

The Issue

Tennessee Man Escapes Justice for Torturing Puppy to Death

On June 9, 2012, J.B. Crowe, of 865 Grove Road, Benton, Tennessee, tortured an innocent and injured puppy who later died as a result of his actions. Crowe took the female puppy and shoved her head inside a plastic trash bag, removed the air by making it tight around her face, and tied it as tightly as he could around the puppy’s neck with a zip tie. Crowe's intent was to kill the puppy. His 11-year-old granddaughter later found the puppy clinging to life; stiff and barely breathing. Eventually, the puppy died. The puppy suffered slowly in agony at the hands of Crowe; a man known for his long history of child and spousal abuse.

Benton Police Department was called to the scene. The responding officer, Pete Roberts, stated he did not have time to waste on such matters. Crowe was not charged with the torture that led to the death of this innocent puppy. The officer was just too lazy to do his job.

According to Tennessee animal cruelty laws (Statute 39-14-202 (a)), a person commits the crime of aggravated cruelty to animals if the person intentionally kills or intentionally causes serious physical injury to a companion animal. A crime considered a Class A misdemeanor with fines up to $2,500 and imprisonment of 11 months, 29 days to 30 years. Yet, the sadistic Crowe has been charged with nothing and is free to torture and kill in the same depraved manner again and again.

We are respectfully requesting that Crowe be charged with aggravated animal cruelty and that he receive the maximum sentence as allowed by law for his crime. We also request that he not be allowed around companion animals for a minimum of five years and that he successfully completes anger management counseling. Moreover, we are requesting that Officer Roberts be reprimanded to the full extent for his complete disregard of the law and his blatant negligence in this matter.

Thank you for considering our remarks.
Kind Regards,
