I recently came to know through news websites about the proposed change of name of the Osmania University library. Since then I have been worried (being a student of OU and citizen of Hyderabad) and trying to bring this issue to the notice of Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and others to stop the move.  Millions of people have studied from this university and benefitted from the library services founded by late Nizam Osman Ali.  It is very sad news and at the same time shameful that the present management of the university wants to remove the name of the founder of the university.

It is also unfortunate that only the grandson of the Nizams has to object to the renaming issue. We respect Dr B.R. Ambedkar but that doesn't mean we have to show that respect by dishonouring our other historical figures. If the university is really interested in giving tribute to Dr B.R. Ambedkar, it can build a new international level library on its own funds rather than indulging in communal activity by renaming the library.

I request our Chief Minister Mr. K. Chandrashekhar Rao and MP Asaduddin Owaisi to interfere in this matter and stop this act of the university.

I also request all the Hyderabadis and OU students (existing and previous) to raise their voice and help me in my attempt to safeguard the history and culture of our beloved city.
