Respected Sir/Madam,

The following mail is done to bring the decision taken by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology formerly known as WBUT which says the exam is to be held online in mcq format via online mode mentioning webcams should be kept on and every student has to appear via desktop or laptop, which majority of the sudents do not have, also the internet requirement would be very high for the process mentioned above and the exam time mentions one and half hour which is never sufficient enough for such theoretical questions however small be the mcq answers, we need time to solve them, also it is not possible for many students who will face such problems to report to their college as many are from village area and large number of the University students are from different states. We the students would request immediate intervention from the authorities concerned and look into the matter giving the edge of benefit to students.

Students problem : 

1) Now all the students are at home . A lot of students live in villages or in different states.We don't have a good internet connection and might face a powercut in the locality during the examination process can lead to the incompletion of the exam.

2) Many students does not have laptop/desktop, Hence also allow us to give the exam from mobile. Everyone cannot afford a laptop or desktop.

3) We don't have webcams, it is not possible to install it for a 90 mins exam and arranging Webcam in such short notice is not possible for most of the students also it is harassing the students and their family.

4) We can't go to college as we are still in home many of our family and friends are covid +ve, so attending college to appear for the exam is not possible as it will increase the risk of getting affected by Covid.

5) Transportation is still an issue in a lot of places that also need to be brought into consideration.

6) The exam time which is 90 mins should be extended as the network is unpredictable and connectivity can cause tribulations during exam.

7) A lot of people doesn't have access to Wi-Fi and giving exam in Desktop/laptop requires good and high speed connectivity.

8) We students will prefer assignment based exam for this semester in which we can download the question paper from the portal and upload the answer script in PDF format in the portal itself as done for the last supplementary exam conducted by MAKAUT was also an assignment based exam so it is unfair and really harassing for odd semester students and also for the 1st year students who are new for the 1st semester.

9) Students are paying all miscellaneous charges like electricity etc. so again investing on installation of Wi-Fi or Webcam or purchasing a laptop is not appreciated at all.

Hence , your concern will be helpful for us. And expecting this issue to be attended shortly.
