CM Fadnavis scrap the Religious tour program & take care of senior citizens’ health 1st
The Issue
I read about CM's plan to send 50,000 senior citizens on tour of religious places every year, with government funds.
I was very disheartened. I looked at him as a progressive leader and not someone with derogatory or useless policies.
So I have decided to challenge this decision and want him to scrap it.It is necessary to spend money on policies and programs which improve and take care of their health, medicines, the condition of old age homes and other facilities for them.
So, I want Fadnavis to stop this program and rather have a policy which will take better care of senior citizens and spend more money there, instead.
Anyone who has visited old age homes knows that there is a constant need of staff, funds, improved facilities, medicines and care workers. This is the harsh reality of these places and also there is a clear lack of government policies and programs for senior citizens.
We all know, as we grow older, we are less capable of taking care of ourselves in a better manner. Our health deteriorates at a faster rate, the medical expenses pile up, there might be also a requirement of private nurses or care taking staff which charge a fortune. When such is the dire state, the government spending money on Religious travels makes no sense.
I want the government to spend money on these necessary things rather than this program they have announced.
If the government thinks, they are doing enough and there are enough facilities and support. I would ask the government to introduce and if already exists increase the amount of 'Old Age Pension' for all senior citizens.
Government funds are in turn people's money, their taxes. When there are several issues related to health, infrastructure of old age homes, medicines, we cannot do this.
I think people know what things are necessary and what are just a PR exercise.
