Justice for the Dog who had crackers thrown in it's mouth

The Issue

Regarding the story about the brown dog who had crackers thrown in its mouth while walking around Lotus River Cape Town and was rescued by officer Sonwabo Sitole and Inspector Jeffery Mfini of the Cape of Good Hope SPCA.

On behalf of all animal advocates in South Africa, when the perpetrators are found (irrespective of age, race, colour or creed), we are asking our Justice system to pass the maximum sentence possible where part of that sentence will be carried out at a welfare organisation and that the welfare organisation reports back to the court on the progress of the rehabilitation of the perpetrators.

This specific incident made social media on 20th December 2019 but this isn’t the only incident of animal abuse & in some cases animals are euthanized because they can’t talk for themselves & we assume the animal is the guilty party.

If the guilty parties are minors, animal welfare needs to be brought into our schools & children need to be taught how to respect & look after animals.

Why can countries like Netherlands brag that they don’t have any dogs in their streets & welfare organisations in the USA like Minneapolis advertise their doors are closed because all animals have been adopted but some organisations in South Africa have to close their doors because they can’t handle the quantity of animals brought in.
