Hello Neighbors,

I’ve lived in North Aurora for years and kept backyard chickens starting in 2012 when a neighbor moving across the street gave us a free coop. My son and I even built a new coop during the lockdown that sits empty today. Last spring, I was forced to rehome my flock due to a local ordinance.

I miss my girls, my daily routine of gathering fresh eggs, and the simple joy of sustainable living! 😉

Surrounding towns—including Batavia, Geneva, Naperville, and Aurora—all allow residents to keep backyard hens responsibly. It’s time for North Aurora to offer the same option to our community!

I’ve started a petition asking the North Aurora Village Board to reconsider the ordinance and pass a reasonable, regulated framework for backyard hens (no roosters, required set-backs, and clean coops).

If you would like to support this initiative or have the option to keep hens yourself, please sign and share the petition .

Thank you for your support, and feel free to leave a comment below or send me a message! 🐔❤️
