Modify the CTA Blue Line’s Division station to Division-Polonia Triangle.

Polonia Triangle was at the heart of the Old “Polish Downtown”, an area that historian Edward R. Kantowicz characterized as being “to Chicago Poles what the Lower East Side was to New York's Jews”. Functioning as the capital of American Polonia, the headquarters of nearly every major Polish organization in the United States was once clustered within its vicinity. Yet few of the plaza’s many passersby are aware of the area’s importance in American as well as Polish history. Amending the station’s name to recognize Polonia Triangle is all the more appropriate given its location directly beneath the triangle itself.
Following the precedent set by the recent renaming of the 35th Street/Bronzeville station on the Green Line, we believe that this new expanded designation will serve the community by bringing to light the fascinating historical heritage of Polonia Triangle that many are simply unaware of.
