The Chicago Black Hawks have been using the name from the Warrior Black Hawk of the Sauk and Fox Nation. 

The NHL team has tried to discuss matters with the nation by offering the tribe $100,000 to continue using the name Black Hawk. 

Let's be real, RACISM is RACISM. When teams use native imagery, this creates a sterotype of our culture and way of life. Native youth find the the imagry as harmful and racist. Although Chicago Black Hawks have banned headdresses and gestures, they continue to use imagery that impacts native youth and people. By allowing people to wear imagery allows people to still perpetuate racist behavior. 

Black Hawk was a great warrior who opposed accomodating colonizers to which he fought till his capture for his people and homelands. He was then paraded to Washington D.C. to sit for portrait paintings. He would draw crowds to see him when being moved to various prisons. In the end, Black Hawk kept his integrity for himself and his people. Let us keep his integrity by changing the name because Black Hawk is NOT A MASCOT. 

In order to secure Black Hawks legacy, we  are requesting Chicago to CHANGE THE NAME. Please support this petition and letting Chicago know WE ARE NOT YOUR MASCOT.
