Chicago Animal Care and Control restore hours cut in December 2019 back to 8am-10pm .

The Issue

08/20/2020 Thank you for signing. This petition is closed. Hours will not be restored.I asked about hours being restored during the Livestream Commission meeting and was promptly BLOCKED. The director then went on to explain how the reduced hours helped staff. Low intake numbers were repeatedly mentioned. Shortened access to the public helped that.

Anti Cruelty Society changed to intake by appt. now. That does not help stray animals people who were once able to take them to ACS pronto. In my humble opinion the reduction of hours at CACC is placing strain on ACS and street rescue volunteers. I believe the Mayors office intention is to force other shelters and agencies to carry more of the cost and intake. It has already harmed street rescue volunteers activity which some have reduced.I viewed the August 20th Commission Meeting and it was very informative.Alderman refuse to promote fixed links to low cost spay/neuter on their social media. They refuse to address pet abandonment in their wards.Chicago has one of the highest number of pets abandoned to the streets.and for years. CACC, City Hall and Alderman continue to refuse to address this widespread cruelty with a campaign.A campaign they could create for free on Social Media.
