Restore the Chi Omega Ritual

Restore the Chi Omega Ritual
The Issue
Chi Omega National has decided to alter our ritual which was established in 1895.
Taking this meaning out of our ritual removes an integral sense of honor and seriousness, and detaches Chi Omega from our founding principles and from the thousands of sisters who came before us. Moreover, all views are welcome in our reading of the ritual and texts. Members are free to find meaning in the words as they personally see fit.
We urge Chi Omega National Leadership to please reconsider. Current sisters and alumni have joined an organization that we felt would remain steadfast in our shared values to which we pledged our sacred honor. This decision to amend the ritual changes the very essence of who we are and what we stand for.
Chi Omega is going to lose a lot of support and sisters due to this decision. There are chapters on Christian campuses that may not allow the chapter to remain open due to this decision. And most importantly, National is abandoning our history and our founders with this decision—things which many of our still sisters take very seriously.
Signed,
Concerned Sisters of Chi Omega
