Queens Park to Ice rink

Queens Park to Ice rink
The Issue
Hello my name is Adrian Todd and I live in a small town called Chesterfield. By day, I am the manager of No10 The Tea Room, and by night I am a keen Ice Hockey Player.
I do travel to Sheffield to play and I can see the benefits of other players and friends using a ice rink facility.
There have been talks of the Queens Park in Chesterfield to be reborn as an Ice Rink, but I think the discussion is a little cloudy.
- Physical Fitness for a ice rink - It's no surprise that ice skating regularly can improve your fitness level in a number of areas. Skating ice rink can help develop better balance, joint flexibility, and endurance, and it's an excellent cardio aerobic workout that will build and tone muscle.
- Community Connection improvements - When you build a home ice rink, you'd better be ready to become very friendly with your neighbors! Everyone will want to come over and enjoy some time on the ice. For many kids, this is one of the best parts of having a ice rink: it provides an easy way to be social with their friends! The entire community will be able to appreciate your contribution to the neighborhood, and it's a wonderful way to bring people together. Whether it's a welcome sight during the holiday season or a much-needed pick-me-up.
- Stress Relief if we have an ice rink - Exercise in general can do wonders for relieving tension, but skating on a home ice rink has some definite advantages over spending the winter in the gym. Spending time in nature has been known to lower stress levels, and when you're doing an interesting and pleasant physical activity, it's bound to have a good effect on your mood. With skating, you're always trying something new, so you'll never be bored. It doesn't matter whether you're an advanced skater or you're trying it for the first time -- you can still blow off the stresses of daily life by heading down to the ice rink.
- Disability benefits - Sledge hockey is another benefit towards an ice rink. The Paralympic sledge hockey equivalent of Ice Hockey, as its name suggests, it is played using two blade sledges which allow the puck to pass underneath the sledge. They are propelled by sticks with a spike in the one end and a blade in the other end for shooting. Or aspects I have seen of organisations have used ice rink facilities creating days out.
Not just ice hockey will benefit, you have sports and events such as
- Figure Skating
- Speed Skating
- Curling
- Short track Skating
- Winter Olympic's
- Dancing on Ice show
- Disney on ice
The list can go on, and the possibilities are endless
This petition is here for people like me or people who would like a voice to the Chesterfield Borough Council to make them aware that an Ice Rink would be a good idea.
