Reduce the road speed past the Three Greyhounds Inn to 40mph from 60mph

The Issue

Please help us make our village of Allostock safer for school children and residents by signing our petition!

Our pub is located on a staggered crossroads that has seen many life-threatening crashes in recent years alone. Residents of the area recently attracted the attention of local MP Fiona Bruce and police commissioner John Dwyer with their inventive scarecrow competition, and were delighted when the speed limit was very recently reduced to 50mph. This was great news, however we still feel this is far too fast for a village, as other villages in the area are all 40mph. With no pavements, walking anywhere in this area is far too dangerous.

With school children huddling on a local resident’s driveway in order to board their school bus safely on Holmes Chapel Road, and dog walkers and families constantly having near misses when pulling in and out of Shakerley Mere, we are desperately trying to achieve a 40mph limit for everyone’s safety.

What we want to achieve:

A 40 mph limit from the top of Holmes Chapel Road (off the A50) through the residential area, over the M6, past Shakerley Mere, past the staggered crossroads and our pub, the Three Greyhounds Inn.

This would keep us in line with the nearby village, Lach Dennis, which already has a 40mph limit.

Why we need you help:

As the M6 bridge marks the spot where we go from Cheshire East to Cheshire West, we need both local councils to help which makes our petition difficult. We need to make both councils aware of the dangers of the current speed limit.

By signing this, you are helping us put the safety of our pub customers, local residents, and, most importantly, local school children first.
