Alan Hudson, Chelsea Football Club Testimonial

The Issue

After a chance meeting with ex Chelsea footballer Alan Hudson, I was totally shocked to hear his terrible story... A footballers life style today is by far different to the mavericks in Alan's heyday. He is the only CFC player that was born and bred in Chelsea, he was on schoolboy terms at 13-years-of age to apprentice at 15 and in 1966 signed professional - from there Alan was integral to the team that won the club their first ever FA Cup and European trophy in Chelsea's long history. However, Alan explained to me that in 1998 after a near fatal car accident (which left him on a life support machine) he became disabled and barely able to walk, at the time of leaving hospital he was homeless, his wife left him soon after, he had to move back home with his mother in Chelsea's, World End and to date he survives day to day on benefits. Unbelievably, even though Alan has fallen on incredibly tough times not one of the clubs that Alan played for has presented him with a testimonial. Alan is 70 this year and being a life long Chelsea supporter myself, it would be fantastic to see my club consider a testimonial for Alan Hudson. I hope that Mr Roman Abramovich, the Chelsea players/staff as well as us fans, regardless of whatever clubs we support, will agree...
