How you can help save Back Inn Time

Back Inn Time is an institution in Chelmsford. The city just wouldn’t be the same without it.

It’s one of the few truly independent restaurants left in the city and has belonged to the same family for more than 20 years.

That’s why we at EssexLive were truly shocked to hear that it could be knocked down and turned into flats.

The landlord has submitted a planning application to Chelmsford City Council to turn this beloved family restaurant into a block of 11 apartments.

There will, however, be a commercial space in the ground floor, which could house the restaurant once it’s finished according to the agent.

But the owners fear they may have to close up for good.

Whatever happens, we want Back Inn Time to stay – whether that’s in its existing building or the new commercial space if the application is approved.
