Columbia (TN) Mayor Chaz Molder approved City Manager Tony Massey hanging a picture* of this “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Horse on the wall at Columbia City Hall about 30 days ago.  
  
By doing so,  Mayor Chaz Molder:

• Squarely placed the City of Columbia, Tennessee in the center of an ongoing national Animal Cruelty controversy surrounding Tennessee’s State Horse.  The "Big Lick" gait is viewed by “Big Lick” supporters as a “Tennessee Tradition”,  while the rest of the country and the world sees it as Animal Cruelty. 
• Raised serious questions regarding the selection of Columbia, Tennessee by Southern Living Magazine as one of the “Top Ten Best Small Towns in America” (February 2019).

 According to native Tennessean MTSU (Middle TN State University) Horse Science Professor Equine Vet Dr. John Haffner,  the “Big Lick” is Animal Cruelty.  “It is a pain induced gait – a business built on the suffering and pain of horses.”

On July 25, 2019,  members of the  United States House of Representatives   unequivocally voted – 333 to 96 –  in a  bi-partisan landslide (78%) to abolish the “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty forever by removing the torture devices – nearly EIGHT POUND STACK shoes and CHAINS from Tennessee Walking Horses. 
 
Reinforcing the “Big Lick” is Animal Cruelty,   the top three “Big Lick”  TWH Trainers at the TWH Celebration championship held on August 31, 2019, plus the “Trainer Of The Year”,  are ALL going on USDA Federal Suspension for alleged             “Horse Soring”.   This article has the details:

On September 20, 2018,   Mr. Dean Dickey (85 year old Mayor of Columbia, TN) issued this official Proclamation:  “NOW, THEREFORE,  I,  Mayor Dean Dickey, Mayor of the City of Columbia, do hereby proclaim Thursday, September 20, 2019,  as “Gen A’Mighty Day” in Columbia, Tennessee, and urge all citizens to join us in celebrating the accomplishments of the splendid stallion, his determined trainer and delighted owner”.      
 
At this event,  Mayor Dean Dickey’s long time friend and “Big Lick” supporter       Mr. Charles Tisher (87 years old),  presented the horse's owner with a gift certificate for a sports coat and a silver platter engraved “Congratulations!  Maury County Horseman & Friends” .  For many years,  Mr. Charles Tisher was the Ring Clerk at the annual TN Walking Horse Super Bowl (a/k/a) Celebration at Shelbyville, TN.
 
Mr. Charles Tisher’s son,   Tim Tisher, Esq.,  is attorney for the City of Columbia
 
On November 6,  2018,    35 year old Columbia attorney Chaz Molder defeated 85 year old Mayor Dean Dickey for Mayor receiving 64% of the vote.   
 
On January 3, 2019,   Chaz Molder was sworn in as Columbia’s Mayor.
 
Only Forty two (42) days later on February 14, 2019,    the “Big Lick horse’s owner and a group of his local “Big Lick” supporters showed up before the Columbia City Council to donate two pictures of the 2018 “Big Lick” Celebration Champion.  (See following excerpt from City Council minutes approved at the March City Council meeting)

It is obvious that Mayor Chaz Molder and the City Council of Columbia, Tennessee are on the “Wrong Side of History” regarding the issue of “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty  to Tennessee’s State Horse  -  the Tennessee Walking Horse.

When U. S. Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) in debate on the floor of the United States House of Representatives on July 24, 2019,  asked the members: “You are either for Animal Cruelty or you are against it?”   The response was 78% of the U. S. House members bi-partisan voted “AGAINST” the “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty by casting a “Yes” Vote on the PAST ACT which will abolish the “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty forever.
