Hello everyone.
We've been informed by Chatteris Town Council that during the closed session of council on 4th June councillors decided not to support our bid to have the pool listed as an Asset of Community Value.
We are very disappointed with this decision, which we believe was made based on incomplete and out-of-date information. Four of our local schools have written letters saying how difficult providing swimming will be without the pool in Chatteris, Kingfishers Swimming Club would lose its home and the hundreds of children currently learning to swim in Chatteris would lose this valuable community resource. As a town, we simply must not let this happen.
We need your help.
This isn't the end. The actual decision is made by Fenland District Council, but support from our local Town Council would really help.
We are hoping that they'll reconsider their decision, but there isn't much time - the pool goes back to auction in a week, and we can't afford to delay Fenland's decision.
You can write to the Town Council via email to tell them why you think it is important that they change their mind. The email address you need is chatteriscouncil@btconnect.com
Happy swimming!
