Keep CGE Students Safe- Walkers Need Crossing Guard or Other Safety Measure
Students and families who walk to school need a safer crossing area when crossing Andrew’s Store Road. A dangerous intersection exists between Andrew’s Store Road and Granite Mill Boulevard, where a cross walk currently exists but is not adequate.
Multiple reports of near accidents from families have been sent to CGE, sheriff’s office and county, but no solutions are given. Too many children have almost been hit by drivers not paying attention or understanding the traffic laws.
We, as Chatham Grove Elementary Community, do not want to wait for a serious accident to make a change. Please help us make this cross walk safer!
We are open to ideas such as: a crossing guard (like one located at middle school,) more signage/lights, longer walking across time and speed alerts of crossing area, pedestrian bridge, etc.
With bus shortages and long car lines, there is an increase and need for walkers, we need a safe place for our children!
