Cecilia Louis was a just few credits short of receiving her Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) in British Columbia before she died in 2018. The residential school survivor worked towards it for more than four decades, providing for her family and other children in her nation in between.

Imagine putting in more than 40 years of work into your education even though education systems had deeply failed you as a child and youth! Cecilia Louis was not one to give up on a dream. Our dream is for equity in education.

Join the call to have the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia recognize Cecilia Louis' achievement. We believe it is a tribute to the CPA-BC that she tirelessly worked towards joining them despite her racialized trauma with education and the financial obstacles towards becoming a CPA. Cecilia spent a career in Accounting for Round Lake Treatment Centre and it is time for her work and her studies to be recognized with the designation they deserve.
