Dear Charlotte City Council,
I urge you to vote NO to Rezoning Petition 2020-049.
This proposal violates our trust in existing Area Plans AND the Equitable Growth Framework premise of the ongoing 2040 Charlotte Planning process.
This proposal is DIFFERENT from other recent Industrial rezoning in this area because 1) it is more than three times larger than the largest nearby facility 2) it is in the Lake Wylie critical area - not just the protected area 3) it includes an entrance on Moores Chapel Rd (no other facility does) and 4) it is in an area designated as Single Family in the current Area Plan - all other recent Industrial rezoning were in areas designated as some type of Industrial.
This proposal would result in the transformation of peoples’ property and neighborhoods into an undesirable wasteland, as folks move out and no one moves in.
This proposal would harm our health, our drinking water and our environment.
This proposal is NOT the highest and best use of this location!
Our community deserves smart growth, amenities and planning like other parts of Charlotte, not a mindless land-grab like this.
And so much more!
I am adamantly opposed to this Rezoning.
