Incite 50 Governors to Unite to Respond to the Pandemic
The Issue
We recognize that the U. S. Chief Executive and the agencies reporting to the executive branch have failed, from the first moment when the existence of a threat was made known; and are continuing to fail at important turns, as the crisis evolves, from responding in timely and appropriate ways to the dire challenges of the COVID19 pandemic that is rising in all 50 United States of America, and from working responsibly with the other branches of government to protect the American people.
Additionally the people of the United States need an authoritative voice, free from political sway to communicate instructions, facts, and hope, where hope is valid.
In the absence of Presidential credibility, the press of the left and right is unable to offer any message to the American people; more than repeating the Presidents garbled message, reacting to it or rebutting it.
In this crisis, we the undersigned petition Governors of all 50 states to immediately convene and form an authoritative consensus in order to enlist the necessary economic and political resources; to create an Ad-Hoc Pandemic-Response-Team. The team should be led by the most accomplished and recognized Medical, Tactical, Communication, and Management experts; who will be able to martial resources appropriately, communicate clearly and effectively to the American people, work with the federal government where possible, and to model appropriate messages, decisions, and actions to a flagging federal effort.
Every governor is a chief executive, responsible for the well being of the people who elected them. United they carry authority and can muster enough resources to recruit the best people to direct us all and to monitor and guide the badly failing Federal Government pandemic effort in this very dangerous time. Every state has different capabilities to raise resources. Plans and actions should be based solely on the protection of life and the best outcomes for the greatest number. States should create this body who will work to deliver the best results, according to the expertise of the most informed and insightful minds, instead of competing for resources. Only the governors can do this right now. We urge your speed in considering this petition.
