Help Save the STCC Cosmetology Program

The Issue

The Cosmetology  program has been a staple in the community since the inception of Springfield Technical Community College. Originating at Springfield Technical Institute, the program was moved to STCC in 1969 with the underlying passion of local officials who knew how important  trades were to our community. Over the years, our program has touched thousands of lives and many of our students have become successful, active members of the community.

Being a part of a Community College helps our students financially, provides them with much needed accommodations, and the opportunity for scholarships. We were able to take students from all different backgrounds, age, ethnicity, and financial tiers and bring them together as a family in a program that has a 100% pass rate for the state practical license examination. The success of our students means everything to us.

Not only does our program offer exceptional education, we help instill the importance of community outreach. Along with collaborations within our campus we collaborated with CHD Division of Shelter & Housing, Service Net, Cancer House of Hope, Pathlight, Sunshine Village and Help our Kids. Our program meant more than a Cosmetology license, it meant community, passion and a drive to make a difference.

The overwhelming support shown by alumni and the community has been extremely touching. We have created this petition so everyone's voice can be heard on a single platform. Share your stories in the comments on how this program has touched our community.

Please sign and share this petition with everyone you can. We need to show the administration that discontinuing the STCC Cosmetology program is a huge loss for our industry, our community and our future generation of stylists.
