Leah Waters has been an amazing teacher to my brother Taron with Down syndrome and special needs since 2009. She goes above and beyond to help mend the lives of not only the students in her class, but around the whole entire Burke High campus. She has been working with people with special needs all her life having an older brother with autism. It clearly shows that she has a compassion and love for what she does. The bond her students have with her is unbreakable and my family and I have been grateful to have her play such a vital role in his life.

            She has always had a class room full of bright young men who have bonded and grown with each other over the years, that why we call her students Water’s boys. My brother who was shy and timid has broken out his shell to do things that my family would never thought he could have accomplished, all thanks to Ms. Waters’ patience and constant motivation. Since she has been gone every day is a struggle for my brother Taron to go to school. Not seeing her when he arrives throws off his whole routine and has caused him to isolate himself. So we ask please bring Leah back! Please also take into consideration the marvelous work she has done in school with her students as well as out in the community.

We the under signers call upon the CCSD board of directors and the administrators of Burke High school to re-evaluate and reconsider the termination of Leah Waters.  We understand that she made a poor decisions but one bad decision should not out way the numerous amount of good ones she has made over the years. It takes a special kind of person with a heart full gold to care for students who people don’t view as normal and Leah is the perfect person to do it. We plead with you to urgently reconsider your decision and bring Ms. Water’s back to Burke High school and her boys.
