Charge Susan Rebecca Haile (Housley) to the fullest extent of the law

The Issue

Three horses seized on Johns Island Susan Rebecca Housley, shown here in 2010, was cited with two counts of ill-treatment of animals and three horses were removed from her Johns Island property on Friday, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said. Susan Rebecca Housley, shown here in 2010, was cited with two counts of ill-treatment of animals and three horses were removed from her Johns Island property on Friday, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said. Three horses were seized Friday on Johns Island and the owner was cited for two counts of ill-treatment of an animal, officials said. The owner is Susan Rebecca Housley of Plowground Road, according to an incident report. Officials responded to the location after receiving an anonymous tip from a concerned citizen who said the animals were being neglected, the report states. Housley, a former College of Charleston riding instructor, had six horses taken from her property in 2010 by sheriff’s deputies, after claims of neglect were made. One of the animals was later returned.

***This makes the third time animals have been seized from her property. 2006 and 2010. In 2006 animals were taken but it never made the news.

In 2010 all the animals were sent to rescue, made healthy and found forever homes. She never had to pay a penny of restitution for the high cost to the rescue to bring the animals back to health. A stallion named Danny was seized, skin and bones, returned to her farm, fat and happy, and she continued to breed animals that she will not care for. Please sign this petition and contact Charleston County Animal Control to have her charged to the max with fines, jail tile and an order that she can no longer keep animals on her property.
