Dear Neighbours, I just got home from a very productive meeting with our Councillor Allan Kauffman in regards our development and it’s safety. I don’t want to raise the hopes just yet but this is an update of what we discussed and what we will be working on the next week. He has been following up with a lot of people and we finally have a clear path to follow. Based on his research the pathway was signed by Bellway as public as part of the Agreement 106 for at least 7 years; however the development was not signed with a “safe by development” note which means the design itself does not guarantee the safety of the residents and therefore gives us the ground to revisit the Agreement 106 to re-negotiate it. With this grounds and the support of the police and council we should be able to make the pathway private and install gates in order to stop all the antisocial behaviour and rubbish issues we have experiencing. Our Councillor will keep following up with his team (who is also following up with Bellway and Trinity) to ensure we can revisit this agreement and pursue the installation of gates ASAP since the crimes seem to be increasing in magnitude. He will also try to get hold of the kids in bikes to understand their needs and see if the council can do something to help them (i.e. create a park so they can do bike tricks there) As for me, I’ll be working on creating a file with all the incidents we have experienced as residents. If you remember any issues, have photo or video evidence please email me ASAP at: ArlaPlaceNeighbours@gmail.com so I can include them in the file (which will be presented to the council next week as evidence of our problems). As I’ve told some of the neighbours, the photos and videos have been our strongest evidence. If you see something and you are in a safe place (i.e. inside your home, inside an apartment block) please take a photo and email it to me so I can keep adding to our file. Even if you cannot take a photo please make sure you report it in: ArlaPlaceNeighbours@gmail.com so we can track it. Remember, don’t put yourself at risk! I will keep you updated within the next two weeks with any new progress and thank you all for your patience while I follow up our petition.
