We are asking that the Charity Commission remove charity status from the LGB Alliance.

The LGB Alliance is a campaign that actively seeks to exclude people from the LGBTQ+ community based on gender. While they claim to promote the rights of lesbians, bisexual people and gay men, there is little evidence of this on their social media page. There is, however, extensive evidence of their campaign to limit the rights of trans and non-binary people. Despite claims of supporting LGB people, on their social media outlets the LGB Alliance argue against banning the harmful practice of conversion therapy.

On social media, the LGB Alliance have been vocal supporters of individuals running accounts that have been banned or limited for hate speech, particularly related to transphobic rhetoric. In recent days, Twitter removed a tweet by the LGB Alliance for violating their rules against hateful conduct. In this tweet, the LGB Alliance stated that using the term LGBTQ+ gives “the green light” for people interested in bestiality to join the community. This is similar to arguments used by homophobes who wanted to prevent equality for LGB people, by painting them as sexual deviants.

The role of charities is to strengthen communities are improve lives. The LGB Alliance are engaging in hateful conduct and are also campaigning against activities that would improve the lives of a significant number of LGB people. We therefore ask that the Charity Commission revoke charitable status from the LGB Alliance, to protect the LGBTQ+ community.
