Tallahassee police Department Detective Ryan Ramos covered up for serial rapist [Redacted]  and obstructed justice for FAMU alum Nahesha. We demand be held accountable.

Our statement and Nahesha's Story:

Tallahassee Students for a Democratic Society & FAMU Students for a Democratic Society condemn the rapist [Redacted] , we cast shame on the perpetrator and shame on the system that defends. In cooperation with Nahesha, a FAMU alumni and survivor fighting for herself and others, the statement herein is published to demand justice.

 In December, 2025 - [Redacted]  raped Nahesha. Nahesha came forward with her story via Instagram, publicizing name and bravely telling the Tallahassee community to beware. Following her posts, four other victims of [Redacted] came forward. 

Her quest for justice has been impeded by rape apologists at every turn, failing her over and over again. Nahesha went to the Tallahassee Police Department and was assigned Detective Ryan Ramos. Detective Ramos had no interest in getting justice, excusing the rapist’s behavior and rushing victims off the phone like they inconvenienced him. Despite doorbell camera footage and the rape kit matching [Redacted] DNA, Ramos informed her that there would be no justice. In fact, Detective Ramos defended, stating “seemed drunk too,” despite video footage showing [Redacted] leaving the door unlocked and returning uninvited hours later. The cop’s statements align with bad reputation as name is well known by victim service organizations.

In the face of mountains of evidence, FSU followed in TPD’s cowardly footsteps and failed her too. [Redacted]  is an FSU student and a rapist, but FSU denied this fact at the conclusion of the Title IX hearing. The university tripped over its own feet rushing to accommodate the rapist and reschedule the hearing, but refused to offer the survivor the same opportunity when she needed it. On June 16th, FSU notified Nahesha that [Redacted] had been found “Not Responsible.” In a horrific miscarriage of justice the safety of a FAMU alumni was ignored to protect a rapist at our university.

We stand in absolute solidarity with survivors of sexual violence who have been profoundly failed by the institutions that claim to protect them. Justice will not be won without the student body demanding it. We demand Detective Ramos be charged for obstructing justice for Nahesha. We demand that FSU hires a third-party adjudicator to handle the Title IX appeal. We demand that FSU have a mandatory annual sexual assault prevention course for all students and employees.

Please join SDS in our struggle against rape culture on campus and TPD cover ups. The failure of the Title IX hearing is university misconduct and we will not let this behavior go unchecked. Join us in outreach and coordination with student organizations to raise awareness for victims and combat rape culture. Join us in protest of the unjust Tallahassee Police Department and to stand against university misconduct in the Title IX process.
