YouTuber known as “RossCreations” decided it was a great idea to post him torturing an opossum on YouTube. He made a catapult & launched the opossum to its death. 

Under Florida Statutes, any act of animal cruelty, such as overloading, tormenting, or depriving an animal of necessary sustenance, is defined as a crime. It is clear and unmistakable: cruelty is taken seriously, with such misdemeanor offenses punishable under s. 775.082. Yet, RossCreations has violated these statutes.

RossCreations’ actions were not only unethical but illegal. Videos surfaced showing unnecessary harm to animals, actions that warrant legal consequences. It disrupts the understanding and respect we owe to our fellow living beings. What he did, as per legal definitions, constitutes animal cruelty, and it is critical that this behavior be addressed before it sets a dangerous precedent.

The legal framework exists to protect voiceless creatures from suffering needless harm at the hands of humans. Such acts of cruelty should result in legal accountability. The failure to pursue appropriate charges undermines our laws and diminishes the severity of offenses against animals.
