*Why was Carrie allowed to keep the horses when they were given a vet score of 1? Why was she not forced to get them immediate veterinary care? Why was she allowed to sell sick/neglected horses in an auction? Why was she not forced to surrender the horses to a rescue that offered to take them and there was a DEAD horse on the property? How much more abuse and death on this property does there need to be to finally do something?*
Horse Rescue Update: The 5 horses from this cruelty case will run through the loose horse sale at BLS today. They will be separated and have approximately 30 secs in the ring when sold. Likely they will end up in the auction pipeline with traders, or they will be headed to slaughter. I will be there watching and seeing who they end up with. The rescue I work with focuses on Draft horses, so us purchasing them from the auction isn't an option as we must be available to pull draft horses in need. However, we offered a safe place for these horses to go when the case first went public. We said we would take them in until the court case was over, or we would take them if Carrie surrendered the horses. We, as a rescue, offered the same services for the horses that YVAS offered the dogs. We were told the horses weren't the priority as it was the dogs they were focusing on. The county is allowing Carrie to make money off the very horses she and Michael starved. Why? Why are these horses being treated any different than the dogs? They suffered in the same situation and now they are not safe, they will continue to suffer unless they beat the odds and find their way into a private home.
