*YVAS Update*
Today is a day that brings a smile to our face and hopefully yours too! Many of you know that we have been caring for 19 dogs that were removed from a property in Yellowstone County while they served as evidence in the case. Today we get to share the great news that the owner has officially released the dogs to YVAS. What does this mean? This means that we can provide more extensive medical care, send the puppies out to loving foster homes, and find loving homes for these dogs. We are excited but also grateful to the Yellowstone Country Attorney’s office working on this case.
Four of the adult dogs completed their medical treatments and are ready to meet potential adopters today at noon and we’re excited to tell their story. Pickles and Sauerkraut are two male Komondors and became internet famous from our original post. We cannot fully express our gratitude to Rae and her team at the Salon at Loveable Pets for springing into action and grooming these guys for 10 hours upon intake. The boys also received a full medical workup including their neuters, vaccinations, treatment of intestinal parasites, and dental extractions. Our Komondors are looking for special homes that understand the nuances of their breed. Komondors, also known as Hungarian sheepdogs, are livestock guardians whose coat grows into long cords, similar to dreadlocks in humans.
Also making their adoption floor debut, we have Aioli and Chutney. Aioli is a female Anatolian Shepherd mix who will warm up to her new humans, but is certainly learning all about this new luxury life indoors with shelter, food, and water. Chutney, a female Great Pyrenees, is ready to find her forever home after receiving a plethora of medical care, including a tumor removal.
We hope that once again our community will wrap us up in support and help find homes for these special dogs while staff at the shelter prepare to receive the additional dogs that are still living on the property. For those of you following this journey, stay tuned for many more updates along the way!
