Charge 16-Year-Olds as Adults in Clovis Murder Case

The Issue

The senseless shooting of 18-year-old Caleb Quick has devastated the Clovis community. Caleb’s life tragically ended after a gunman, dressed in all black, stalked his movements and lie in wait for 13 long minutes inside a McDonald’s until Caleb and his friends exited the restaurant. Upon their departure, the gunman followed them into the parking lot, put a gun to Caleb’s head and executed him. He then walked away from the scene as witnesses tried to save Caleb’s life. The gunman got into a waiting white Tesla approximately a mile away, driven by his accomplice. Due to the heinous nature of this crime, both perpetrators should face severe consequences.

On April 23, 2025, the unthinkable act shook the entire city of Clovis, CA. The brutality of this crime demands justice, not only for Caleb's grieving family but for the safety and peace of the entire community. This crime, premeditated and cold-blooded, reflects an adult level of malice and planning that goes far beyond what should be handled in juvenile court.

California law permits the charging of juveniles as adults in cases involving serious felonies and egregious circumstances. Charging these two 16-year-olds as adults could result in a sentence that more appropriately reflects the severity of their actions. Such accountability will not only serve justice for Caleb but also send a critical message to deter similar violent acts by minors in the future.

Acknowledging the irreversible impact on Caleb’s family and friends, and mindful of the community's need for justice and safety, we urge the District Attorney of Fresno County to pursue adult charges in this case and the juvenile court judge to grant the motion to transfer the case to adult criminal court. This decision could provide a sense of closure for those who loved Caleb and help make Clovis a safer place.

Please sign this petition to demand that the juvenile suspects in the murder of Caleb Quick be charged and tried as adults, ensuring that justice is served and community safety is upheld. Your support can instigate necessary change. Sign the petition now.
