Channel 4 have made a shameful decision with their programme 'Dogs Behaving Badly' and need to re-think who they should have as their leading dog trainer.

I agree this style programme is a great way to teach and inform the viewers suitable approaches and advice on training their own dog(s). However the current leading dog trainer Graeme Hall on this show promotes old-fashioned training methods in which physical force, intimidation and fear is used to gain the wanted result. It is like having a British version of Cesar Milan! AWFUL! We are now in 2019 - we have moved on from these unkind approaches - we understand dog psychology & behaviour far better now.

Positive reinforcement should be the only method being promoted, the kindest method, and what's more it is the most effective method.

Modern day dog training demonstrates no physical force, pain, intimidation or fear. It shows us we do not need any of that to train a dog effectively, even the "naughtiest" of dogs!

Educated professionals such as dog behaviourists, veterinary staff, Dogs Trust and RSPCA will confirm positive reinforcement is the BEST method and would never use such outdated methods being currently shown in this programme.

As a country of dog lovers & pet owners, rescuers & fosterers, behaviourists & positive reinforcement, we must stand against these outdated methods and promote only positive reinforcement. We want useful information to be shared not damaging advice.
