The Issue

Derry Girls has been a huge success for Channel 4 becoming the most successful TV show in Northern Ireland since modern records began, reaching 54% of the Northern Irish TV audience. Across the whole of the UK it reached an average of 2.5m viewers per episode becoming Channel 4's biggest comedy launch since 2004. Many critics are touting it as a classic after just two series, yet unaccountably it has not been given a DVD release.

Many other Channel 4 comedies, such as Stath Lets Flats and Home, have been given a DVD release despite being at just as new (or newer) and not being as successful for the channel.

It is ludicrous in this day and age that we have to rely on UK-only streaming services that require the internet to watch a critically acclaimed comedy. It would undoubtedly be a success and make money for the channel so the lack of action needs addressing. Channel 4 or another company should give this programme the DVD release it deserves in time for the third series.
