Change the ending of "We're going on a bear hunt"

About "We're going on a bear hunt"

On Christmas Eve Channel 4 showed the TV adaptation of "We're going on a bear hunt". Originally this was a fun book for children where the children went through different places like mud, grass, etc while trying to find a bear. They then hear a scary noise and then run back through the different places. It was a silly entertaining book for young kids so you would expect the TV adaptation to be fun? No, it was simply depressing and miserable. She makes friends with the bear and then her other friends drag her away. The bear then follows them back and they lock the door and run upstairs.  This doesn't make any sense as to why the girl would not run back to the bear when she could have.  The ending is then extremely sad as the bear walks back with a depressed look on his face as the girl looks out of the window at the snow. The story ending  has no meaning or conclusion and I have no idea what the writers were thinking. Looking at tweets loads of child went to bed crying on Christmas Eve because of this depressing film. And out of all the nights it had to be Christmas Eve. This night is supposed to be exciting and filled with joy but instead children were crying in their beds.

What I want:

I want them to re-release and add an extra bit on the end where just as the bear is going into the cave she runs up and hugs him, or some other type of happy ending.

Also massive apology for ruining Christmas Eve for many children.

Thank you for spending your time to read this.
