Changing county ordinance for keeping backyard chickens

Changing county ordinance for keeping backyard chickens
The Issue
Backyard chickens provide many benefits - their eggs are a fresh, organic source of nutritional intake; they offer educational value for children in understanding poultry care and development; and they're excellent for natural garden maintenance. Keeping chickens helps reduce dependence on mass-produced poultry products, often associated with environmental issues and inhumane conditions. According to the National Chicken Council (2017), a single chicken can lay up to 276 eggs in a year. Therefore, allowing backyard chickens for personal use not only alleviates some concerns about commercial production but also benefits our health and environment. To promote sustainable, personal, and educational food production, we urge local officials to legalize keeping backyard chickens. Please sign this petition to support our cause.
