Changes in Service at Owen Level 6

Changes in Service at Owen Level 6
The Issue

Over the past 2 years, the way in which we are served our lunch at the Owen Level 6 Food Hall has changed for the worse. Few of us older students will remember a time when we could walk in, fill up our boxes with whatever we wanted, and so long as we could close it we could buy it. Now they are going so far as to restrict the use of cheese to only jacket potatoes. In addition to this, I'm sure it is clear to everyone that the variety of choices on a weekly basis has become severely limited compared to what it was just last academic year.
This needs to change! We as students often find ourselves with limited diets outside of the uni day for a vast array of reasons. Should we not at least have access to a good, healthy variety of food from which we can choose freely for a reasonable price at one venue? We have to ask ourselves, what has caused this change? Has the university had to become more frugal? Or is it another action of financial greed in the education industry?
We need to act now, not only to make this change but also to show the university that we will not simply lay down and take it, to make them think twice about future actions that affect the student body! Now is the time to show them that together we have strength!
Summary of demands:
- Make major improvements to the variety of the food served (regular changes in region, less frequent repeats of dishes, etc).
- Distribute weekly menus to students.
- Make major improvements to the salad bar.
- Return to allowing students to fill their own lunch boxes and "mix and match" different meals.
- Make all extras (cheese, chicken & bacon, etc) allowable with all dishes served.
