Hi everyone, So last Friday I participated in something called the Truth Project and was able to share my story. The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) is an independent inquiry which has been set up to investigate the extent to which institutions and organisations in England and Wales have taken seriously their responsibility to protect children, and investigates how organisations may have failed to protect children from sexual abuse. Their research allows the Inquiry to get a better picture of the past to help create a safer place for children in the future by highlighting the scale of child sexual abuse. Their aim is to change laws to enable children in the future to be protected where others in the past weren’t. I’m still hoping that my case will be able to be re-opened and despite a constant battle against the police, IICSA have given me a little more hope by listening and vowing to do all they can to help. No promises can be made, of course, but they’re an organisation which isn’t too widely known so I really felt the need to share this with you all. Please keep sharing my petition; I never realised how many people have been affected by this loophole in the law until I started fighting this myself. Love to you all, Emma x
