The current mātaitai around Tauranga Moana should be converted into a marine reserve! The area lacks biodiversity and will eventually become a kina barren if we continue the way we're going. People are exceeding the fishing limits and taking too much for the environment's good. If we converted the area, we could enforce the rules better and make sure that sea life is fostered and cared for to increase the biodiversity of our waters! I've spoken with scientists and researchers in the area and everyone agrees that a marine reserve would be far better for the environment. Signing this petition means we can make our environment better for sea life and for our community.
