The Issue

The San Jose Sharks community has supported the team through a rough couple years and we are excited about the promising future. However, the goal song change that was supposed to represent a new era in Sharks hockey has undoubtedly impacted the fan experience in the tank. The goal song in recent years provided a great energy after a goal through a tune that all fans knew and loved. The new choice does not resonate with the fans and it is apparent in their reactions to the song. The tank quiets and the energy that may have presented itself due to a goal is sucked out of the tank because of the goal song.

If the Sharks organization chooses to listen to its community and either revert the goal song back to either the 2010s song, “Rock and Roll pt. 2”, or the most recent song, “Get Ready for This”, it would demonstrate that the fans have a voice that is heard. Additionally, it would present an immediate impact in the tank, giving fans a great song to cheer along to that brings energy up instead of down. On the other hand, if the Sharks decide to ignore its fans, the energy that was felt with the old song will never be there again, deterring fans from coming to games and showing them that their voices are not heard and taken into consideration by the organization.

Because of this, the San Jose Sharks should listen to their fans and look to revert back to the 2010s song “Rock and Roll pt.2,” or the most recent, “Get Ready for This.” This is the most desired outcome among fans, but if neither of these songs is possible to acquire, a new selection of songs that ALL fans can vote on, not only 365 Members would also let the community know that their voices are heard.
