The Issue

We the student body of the United States of America believe the new policy on phones in our states is too strict. In 2025, at least 26 states have banned students being able to use phones. Most of these being bell-to-bell rules. These policies makes our students go above the rules even more. Stricter policies make sneakier students. Without the ability to communicate to our parents or guardians we are left clueless about anything told to us until the day is over. With these new school shootings happening, our parents have no idea if we are safe. Imagine not being able to tell your mother that you are in danger because of a phone ban. Our phones are vital to stay connected with our classmates, parents, clubs, and teachers on a regular basis. Less phones mean less ability to record and report things like bullying, harassment and even assault. Failing students will always happen no matter if you have phones or not.  Students can still stay focused and succeed with phones. Why is there the need to ban phones during lunch and between classes when no lesson is happening?
