As someone who finds a deep and personal connection to the community of Brawley, CA, I've often been taken by the unique charm of our locality. However, I couldn't help but ponder on the idea of renaming our beloved city to New Compton. To many, this might seem as a light-hearted measure, and indeed it is. As it stands, Brawley, CA and Compton, CA are clearly distinct, with Brawley having a population of about 26,000, significantly smaller than Compton's 96,000 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2019).
