the theme of the Sadie Hawkins Dance this year is jurassic. This theme promotes exclusion, safety hazards, and disregard for our voice as the student body.

 this is a bad theme because there are limited options for how to dress to thwme. every student deserves to be able to dress up for the dance theme affordably and without struggle.

the most common costume I can imagine being worn is an inflatable dinosaur. this is not only impractical for the vast majority of students, but also a safety hazard. inflatables will result in crowding and potential harm over tripping on tails. dances are rowdy enough already, we do not need additional hazards.

Furthermore, an Instagram vote does NOT reflect the views of the complete student body. Not everyone has Instagram.

If you are going to use a vote to decide a theme, make it available to every single student.

Turning off the comments on the theme announcement post shows complete disregard for the student body’s opinions. It shows you do not value the views of the people you represent. This is not a solution we as high schoolers should be taught is acceptable.
