Change the Massachusetts State Ice Cream to Green Monster

The Issue

I am a lifelong resident of Massachusetts, primarily Boston. As a child, the sight of Fenway's towering Green Monster filled me with awe and a sense of belonging. The decision to make Cookies and Cream the state ice cream instead of Green Monster is an outrageous decision.

The Green Monster, towering over Fenway Park, has been an integral part of Boston's culture since the Titanic sunk.  It represents not just our love for baseball, but brings all the cultures and corners of our city together. Choosing an ice cream flavor that reflects this symbol would be more fitting for our state.

Cookies and Cream may be popular around America as it ranks as the third favorite ice cream flavor, but it lacks the specific cultural significance that the Green Monster holds for us. Though Cookies and cream was created in Boston, the combination of an iconic relic and this flavor will symbolize the ultimate ice cream to put forward.

For out-of-towners, Green Monster ice cream consists of mint ice cream, fudge, and cookies sprinkled throughout it. Traditionally it is served in a little plastic Red Sox hat that lightens children's days.

Let’s honor our heritage by making Green Monster the official state ice cream flavor. This change would not only pay homage to one of Boston’s most beloved landmarks, but it will reflect what makes Massachusetts better than all the other states, especially New York.

Please sign this petition if you believe in celebrating local culture. Let's make Green Monster our State ice cream flavor!
